Why Did We Start the Project?

The Challenge

SEKO Logistics faced several critical challenges with their outdated CMS, which was impeding both their internal efficiency and the overall user experience. Their website was slow, difficult to navigate, and hard for content editors to manage. With a global presence, managing content across multiple regional sites and languages added significant complexity, resulting in delays and inconsistencies.

The main issues SEKO encountered were:

  • A frustrating user experience with outdated design and structure
  • Difficulty for content managers to maintain and update information across regions and languages
  • Slow site performance and inefficient content layouts
  • Lack of content governance and user management across regional sites

To address these issues, SEKO wanted a partner who could help them upgrade to the latest version of Umbraco CMS and optimize both their user experience and content management processes, ensuring a seamless, efficient solution for their international teams.

What's Going On?

The Analysis

In tackling SEKO's challenges, we started by analyzing the site’s architecture and user experience. Through in-depth research, we identified several pain points that were holding back both user engagement and operational efficiency.

The solution needed to address both the front-end user experience and back-end content management processes. We recognized that improving the way content was managed—especially across multiple languages and regions—was key to streamlining SEKO’s operations. With this insight, we set out to create a strategy that would not only upgrade SEKO’s CMS but also create a more efficient and user-friendly experience for both site visitors and content managers.

How Marcel Digital Helped

The Solution

Our approach focused on improving both the user experience and the content management process. We worked closely with Shine, SEKO's design agency, to create a modern, intuitive design that aligned with SEKO’s global vision while improving usability.

The process began with a user experience analysis, conducted by a third-party UX research group, to identify key areas of friction on the current site. Using this data, we restructured the site’s information architecture and redesigned the user flow to make navigation easier and more intuitive. Shine brought this new architecture to life with updated design elements that better reflected SEKO’s brand and vision.

On the back-end, we focused on optimizing content management. SEKO’s challenge was managing multiple regional sites in different languages, each requiring manual content updates. By leveraging Umbraco’s 1:1 translation capabilities and shared content libraries, we consolidated content into regional and language-based groupings, streamlining updates and ensuring consistency across all sites. Content managers could now maintain multilingual content with ease, updating shared content from a central location while maintaining the flexibility to customize it for specific regions.

What Happened After Launch?

The Results

The website upgrade delivered substantial improvements in both functionality and efficiency. The new user experience provided a much-needed overhaul, with streamlined navigation and faster load times that improved user satisfaction.

For content managers, the improved Umbraco CMS allowed for efficient content updates, with the ability to manage multiple regional sites from a single back-end system. The new shared content libraries and translation management tools significantly reduced the time required to keep content synchronized across languages and regions. This also helped to improve governance and reduce errors, as content could be updated in one place and propagated across all relevant sites.

Overall, SEKO’s website is now faster, more responsive, and easier to manage. The new system has allowed them to maintain a consistent, high-quality experience and lead flow across all regional sites while saving time and improving operational efficiency. The seamless integration of multilingual content management also supports SEKO’s global operations, ensuring that regional teams can update content without duplicating effort.
