Introducing Umbraco 14

Hi everyone! Kyle here at Marcel Digital, and today we’re going to talk about the much anticipated Umbraco 14. It's almost here and it’s bringing a host of amazing updates that are sure to bring your website to the next level. 

Let’s dive into some of the key changes. 

First up, the Backoffice has been completely rewritten using TypeScript, Web Components, and the Umbraco UI Library. This means a faster, more flexible, and extensible back office experience. They’ve also made some design refreshes to make the back office more consistent. 

Umbraco 14 also introduces a new Management API, consolidating backend endpoints for seamless integration and customization. Developers can now use strong typing and IntelliSense for a smoother coding experience. The updated back office is built on top of the same management APIs which developers will have access to, allowing for greater customization of the back office without the need for unsupported workarounds. 

And say goodbye to outdated features. Umbraco 14 has cleaned up legacy   functionalities, replacing them with more robust alternatives, ensuring better performance and security. This streamlining makes your Umbraco website more efficient and reliable.

The Umbraco first-party add-ons such as Forms, Deploy, Commerce, and Workflow are all receiving updates to work with the new back office of Umbraco 14. Umbraco has also open-sourced the Workflow add-on to give developers inspiration of how to implement their own packages in the Umbraco 14 back office.
